Installing DesignPile Theme

1. Unzip the file that you have downloaded, you will find a zip file called designpile.zip. Go to your WP Admin panel, Appearance > Add New Themes and upload designpile.zip file.

2. To install the theme manually you should have already wordpress installed and running on your server. Using FTP, upload the "rockwell" theme folder to your web server, and place it in "/wp-contents/themes/". So what you'll have in the end is "wp-contents/themes/designpile/".

3. Now that you have the theme uploaded you just need to login to your WP admin panel and activate it "Appearance > Themes".

Installing Plugins

This theme uses 1 plugin, Wp125, which you can find in the downloaded .zip file, folder "plugins". You need to upload these folder's contents on your server to "wp-content/plugins/" and activate the plugins from the admin panel.

1. Wp125, ads management plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp125/ ) - adds a easy to use WordPress management system for 125x125 ads. Once you have it installed and activated you can also disable that ads section at any time, from Theme Options Page. This will NOT delete your ads setup.

Theme Options Page

This themes comes with a custom options page ( Appearance > Webfolio Options) where you will find:

1. Choose a theme style - You have 3 different color styles, pink, green and blue..

2. Set up your site logo - You have enter the full path to an image logo and the image ALT text.

3. Enable/Disable Ads Section - It matters only with Wp125 plugin activated.

4. Number of latest posts on homepage - You can set the homepage to display custom posts by tagging them with "homepost". If no such tag is set, latest posts are displayed.

5. Contact Page Text and Form Email address Setting - You can set the text of the contact page template and, as the theme comes with a working Ajax contact form, you need to specify your address in order to get the messages on your email.

7. Social Networking - Enter your Facebook , Flickr and Twitter links.

8. Add Google Analytics code - Simply fill in the filed for Analytics code and save.

Menu Management ( for WP 3.0)

The theme is ready to take advantage of the new Wordpress 3.0 feature for Menus Management. If installed on an eralier Wordpress version the menus will work as well but with categories and pages regular listings function.

The theme has support for both menu lists.

*Please remember that you first need to create a menu for registered themes locations to appear as available.

Setting Post Thumbnail

The theme comes with the WP thumbnail options enabled in functions.php. So, setting up a post thumbnail can be done in edit post page. The post option will be visible on the right sidebar.

You can also set as post thumbnail an image you insert into your post. So, when inserting an image you will see an option for "Use as thumbnail".

 

Homepage setup

1. Featured Post - to feature a specific post you just need to add a tag called "featured" to that post. For the image of featured post you need to add a custom field called "featured_img" with the full path to the image as value. A maximum width of 628px is recommanded.

2. Homepage posts - To display certain posts on the homepage you just need to tag them with "homepost". If there is no such post, latest posts will be displayed. To set/limit the number see options page. For proper display we recommand to set thumbs for homepage posts.

Contact Page

When you create the Contact page, you will need to set the "Contact" template for it ( right side Attributes panel ), in order to have the contact page as in preview and have it Ajax functional.

 

Lightbox

For adding Lightbox behaviour to a link just add class="lightbox" to the link tag.
